Warhammer Online Review – War-Hammer Online Blog
Well, I finally got my hands on a Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning beta account and let me to tell you, it was worth the wait! So did Warhammer Online knock my socks off? Read the Review below to find out.
Graphics
Warhammer Online’s graphics are incredible. The modeling and texturing shine above anything I have ever seen below. The modeling looks just like the board game, amazing. From the backdrops, to the rendered characters the realms look real, period. The fight scenes look great, they are detailed and you actually SEE your character in battle, it’s not something you’ll want to miss. Also your character looks incredible, and every level you can see him getting stronger, much more detail then I am used to! All I can say is World of Warcraft better watch out, Warhammer online is coming.
Questing
The questing system in Warhammer Online is intuitive while it adds to questing seen in other MMO’s.
You have 4 types of quests:
Public Quests. These are open to anyone and prizes are pretty standard, gold, items ect.
Conflict Quests – These quests pit you against opposing players. They are really fun and they demonstrate how Warhammer online will be superior to anything before it. In the Beer and Beards scenario you may discover a group of injured dwarves who need a bit of rescuing. If you are part of the Orc force you can further injure the dwarves by removing their beards, if you are playing a dwarf you must bring the dwarves beer .
Branching Quests - These quests give you choices that affect your rewards.
There are also - Skirmishes (Incidental PvP combat), Battlefields (Objective-based battles), Scenarios (Instanced point-based battles [think CTF]), and Campaigns (full on invasions of warring Realms’ cities).
Gameplay
Warhammer Online is smooth. Its simple and user friendly, and it builds a lot off of World of Warcraft. The Realm vs Realm combat is a lot of fun and you can get into it easily. You don’t have to kill bores for 20 levels to start off this game. Your character gets strong QUICK. I felt powerfull within an hour of playing.
Overall
For a game that’s still in BETA, this was simply an amazing experience for me. It felt ready to go and I am actively playing my BETA character daily. Come on Mythic, role this thing out because we are all aching to play. If you are interested in Beta Testing, apply at Warhammer Online.
